I realized I’ve never before submitted my own Weekly Wild submission! I felt that this month’s theme was the most fitting because I’m sort of a giant dreamer. Since I spend most of my time (and try to make a living) rioting for the resurgence of dreams, I thought it’d be cool to make a submission that was actually very literal, as in an actual dream. So I made it real by writing and designing this dream into a short story. Eventually I’ll probably turn this concept into a bigger project, but for now, here are some bits of my dreams!

Ps: Keep your eyes peeled for exciting things that are all coming in the next month (some in less than a week, some in a few)!! Including jumping out of planes, in-the-studio shoots with some of your favorite LA artists, radical weekly wild submissions, multiple new releases, things we built for you to light up your life (literally), overcrowding rooms and singing songs, etc! Can’t wait for you to see everything!

Bella’s back! We get to feature our favorite 14-year-old genius once again. Here’s what she did: She took 5 people that have most impacted her life and thought of something that personally represented each person. She made them real by drawing each individual thing. She cut each out and turned them into letters of sorts by writing everything she wanted to tell that specific person. Then she sent the 5 letters in the mail. She wanted to remind all of them how they’d helped her. And she did.

WEEKLY WILD #7
THIS IS NOT A DREAM
(MAKE IT REAL)

“This is not a dream”. We wanted to spell out a sentence that was incredibly literal. Meaning we didn’t build these letters to tell you that the world is not a dream, more of the opposite. We built them to prove that you can make your dreams tangible.

We thought it was a fitting cry. Because 2 weeks ago, imagining a giant sentence made of lights was indeed a delusion.

This was an experiment to demonstrate that all it takes is the carry-through, to make any dream a reality.

We spent a night telling the Atwater streets that they’re not sleeping. So take a day to go wake up. Because the truth is, this is not a dream. So make it real. We dare you.

On a Wednesday, smack dab in the middle of the day, Prescott traveled down to the bottom of the hill of Los Feliz Blvd. She set out to do what thousands of people have wished to do (when driving by on hotter days) in Los Angeles: She recklessly jumped into the Mulholland Fountain and swam around, did some backstrokes, and climbed her way to the very top.

And waits for someone else to remember for them

Maybe changing something like the world

March:
WEEKLY WILD #6
WE’VE GOT BALLS

We went on a little vacation to Florida. While there, we scrounged a wealth of Chinese lanterns, found an abandoned house, found some adventurous people and we were ready to battle. With the intention of creating something like an airborne ball pit, we decided to, well… throw some balls. Whether they became hats, or shields, or full body suits, within 30 minutes the lanterns manifested themselves in a multitude of formations. Once we were done, we all snuck out without a trace.

Because sometimes, when the going gets tough, all you gotta do is g(th)row some balls.

So, this month, this is our challenge: Do something you’ve always wanted to do. We dare you.

PAPER PLANES

Height of its flight … Soaringly recycled.

When Rachel sent us these, we especially loved this one because of the letter she wrote to go along with it. It explained what our ambiguous concept of “Idea + Flight = Catalyst” meant to her. On a paper with the opposite colors of our original kites, she wrote in scribbly, treasure map script:

“Idea + Flight = Catalyst represents to me the concept of an idea taking flight, as opposed to shelving it away for no one to ever see or experience. Whereas a lot of people in the world never let their ideas get high, and listen to someone else’s idea instead. Usually out of fear that their idea can never take off.

So I wanted to make these planes out of something old and no longer beautiful, in order to show that anything can take flight, no matter how tried and used you think it may be. To show that sometimes all you need to do is change the way you view it to make it fly again.”

February:
WEEKLY WILD #5
IDEA + FLIGHT = CATALYST

We stretched down one of the usually quiet streets of Los Feliz, all of us brandishing ginormous kites. Ready to take to the sky. We lunged down, prepared for take-off, and leapt forward. Down the entirety of the street, blurs of faces sprinted by. Flying above them, a chaos of home-constructed airborne contraptions. The bright red kites were smeared with white paint that read together: “Idea + Flight = Catalyst”. Strangers were overjoyed, old men scorned. Neighbors stopped to stare, cars screeched at the sight of us.

We pioneered the sky and got wild once again. To prove that all it takes to make an idea happen, is a little flight…

So, look. What do we really want to do? We have a pretty overt and steep mission: change the world. We have a large ways to go, and a whole lot to do. So we’re starting here. You and us. Because someone has to be the revolutionaries, you know?

We’re hopeful. We’re greatly naive. We’re determined. And we refuse to be anything otherwise until our job is done. This is just the beginning. Together, it’s going to be hard to stand in our way.

So, let’s start.
